ESTONIAN WORLD RECORD PROJECT 2015Watch live broadcast from this audacious race on sõudespinning.ee website hereRainer Saad and Rait Merisaar are beginning on 5th of January an unprecedented sport event – together they are planning to row 1 million metres with Concept2 rowing machine. Their aim is to set a NEW WORLD RECORD. To do that, they need to row 1 million metres faster than 3 days, 10 hours, 33 minutes and 19,5 seconds (500m/2,28.6 minutes). Current world record is held by two English rowers Max Burridge (22 yr) and Skip Graham (36 yr), who set the record in november 2013. According to manufacturer of rowing equipment Concept2 database, tandem 1000km has only rowed third times. Our rowers would be fourth. |
SECOND WORLD RECORD IS ALSO POSSIBLERainer and Rait could also set second world record with Concept2 rowing machineAfter 3,5 days, they try to continue their race and aim for the second record – longest continual. To do that, they need to row more than 4 days, 15 hours and 7 minutes. Current record is held by New Zealand rowers Falstaff Dowling-Mitchell (29 yrs.) and Aaron Ellis (26 yrs.). Record was set on 19th of January 2014. It is an absolute record for longest continual. |
